The National Center on School Choice is funded by the United States Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences. The Center exercises national leadership in school choice research, including charter and magnet schools, private school vouchers, teacher recruitment, school management, and state policymaking.

Bettie S. Teasley

Bettie Teasley is a Research Assistant at the National Center on School Choice.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Kenyon College in Ohio and is currently a doctoral student in education and public policy in the Department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations at Vanderbilt University. 

Bettie has taught undergraduate public policy courses for the Department of Human and Organizational Development at Vanderbilt University.  Prior to pursuing her graduate studies, Bettie was the Director of Family Assistance for the Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS).  During her tenure in state government, she led policy operations for the state’s welfare, food stamps, and Medicaid/TennCare eligibility programs and provided oversight and design for the state’s welfare reform efforts.
