Paul PetersonHenry Lee Shattuck Professor of Government
Director, Program on Education Policy and Governance
Harvard University

Paul E. Peterson is Henry Lee Shattuck Professor of Government and director of the Program on Education Policy and Governance at Harvard University. He is also a senior fellow of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, and editor-in-chief of Education Next, a journal of opinion and research on education policy. He is a former director of the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard University and of the Governmental Studies program at the Brookings Institution. The author or editor of over one hundred articles and thirty-plus books, Professor Peterson’s studies on school choice and vouchers are, according to the Editorial Projects in Education Research Center, among the country’s most influential studies of education policy.

The NCSC is funded by a 5 year, $13.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences. Its lead institution is Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. The center is housed on the campus of Peabody College, one of the nation's top graduate schools of education.
