    Marisa Cannata, Associate Director

  • Marisa Cannata is the associate director of the National Center on School Choice and research associate in the Department of Leadership, Policy and Organizations at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. Her research interests focus on policies surrounding school choice and teacher quality, including teachers’ career decisions, work experiences, and hiring. She has published research on teacher professional community in charter schools, teacher qualifications across school types, the influence and leadership of National Board Certified Teachers in schools, the teacher job search process, and teacher social networks.

The NCSC is funded by a 5 year, $13.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences. Its lead institution is Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. The center is housed on the campus of Peabody College, one of the nation's top graduate schools of education.
