Karin Katterfeld is a doctoral student in the Department of Leadership, Policy and Organization at Vanderbilt University. She is also a fellow in the Experimental Education Research Training (ExpERT) program, funded by the U. S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences (IES). In line with the key questions of the ExpERT program, Ms. Katterfield is interested in what works in education, when, for whom, and why, and in the structural and organizational factors which allow faculties and schools to succeed. Ms. Katterfield received her master’s degree in education from Vanguard University, Costa Mesa, California, where she studied the effect of involving students in the development of their own math problems. She has worked in secondary schools teaching mathematics and English, both in the U.S. and internationally.
