Kay Tyler
Administrative Assistant

See Kay's Facebook Page.

Kay has been a Vanderbilt employee since 1986, and joined the group as the administrative assistant to the Religious Life office in December 2005. She is delighted to have joined such an enthusiastic and dedicated group, and ‘Tarpley' has already become her home away from home. Kay serves as a representative to the University Staff Advisory Council.

She married a fellow Vanderbilt employee in April 2005, after he considerately built an addition to his house to accommodate her books! He is also tolerant of her other passions: koalas and Australia, and promoting literacy.

Office Assistant
debra.j.flowers@vanderbilt.edu

Starting my ninth year as Office Assistant for the Religious Life office reveals enjoyment with my job, but more so, the extent that I cherish the people surrounding me at Vanderbilt.  Although they are named as "colleagues," I consider them as part of my extended family.

I have been married to my best friend Mike for the past 24 years and, when not at Vanderbilt, he is who I enjoy spending time with.  We have two sons, Jim who is 20 and in school at Tennessee Tech University, and Mark who is 19 and in school at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

As a Notary Public I am able to serve the broader campus community and as an amateur athlete, I enjoy training for the Country Music Half Marathon. The 2008 half marathon will be my third, and each year I have the goal of beating my previous year's time.  I am a volunteer for the Sports 4 All Foundation.  The Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life for those with disabilities, by providing funding and equipment to enable full participation in sporting and recreation activities.
