Sojourner's Quest: How belief and Faith Inform our Lives

Dr. Huston Smith gave his presentation, "The Re-enchantment of Our Lives" on Wednesday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m. in Benton Chapel. This event was free and open to the public.

Huston Smith is Thomas J. Watson Professor of Religion and Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Philosophy, Emeritus, Syracuse University. He has also taught at Washington University in St. Louis and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His most recent teaching has been as Visiting Professor of Religious Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Smith is the author of over seventy articles in professional and popular journals, and his book The World's Religions , (formerly The Religions of Man) (Harper San Francisco, 1958, rev. 1991) has sold several million copies and has been the most widely used textbook for courses in world religions for many years. In 1996 Bill Moyers devoted a five-part PBS special, "The Wisdom of Faith with Huston Smith," to his life and work.

Jack Miles, Pulitzer-Prize winning author of God: A Biography was the featured speaker at The Sojourner's Quest, an interfaith forum that explores how belief and faith inform our lives

The lecture was held on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 in Benton Chapel. Miles, a former Jesuit, pursued religious studies in Rome and Jerusalem and holds a doctorate in Near Eastern languages from Harvard University.
