Dwork to deliver 43rd Annual Holocaust Lecture

The planning committee of the 43rd Annual Holocaust Lecture Series is pleased to announce the 2020 keynote lecture, “Jewish Orphans after the Holocaust,” by Debórah Dwork, author of Children with a Star: Jewish Youth in Nazi Europe and many other works.  Dr. Dwork is Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence at The Ralph Bunch Institute for International Studies at The Graduate Center at the City University of New York and Founding Director of the Center for Study of the Holocaust, Genocide, and Crimes Against Humanity.

This year’s series, sponsored by the Office of the University Chaplain and Religious Life in partnership with Vanderbilt Hillel, focuses on the theme “Children in the Holocaust.”  Events and programs throughout the fall and spring, including lectures, films, and exhibits, will explore how children experienced trauma, loss, and death in the Holocaust.  The Vanderbilt series is the longest-running Holocaust memorial lecture at any American university.

The lecture will be offered via webinar at 7:00pm CDT on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.  Registration is required through the link at the Holocaust Lecture Series website, www.vanderbilt.edu/holocaust/.
