The first issue of the 'Vanderbilt Register' was published
Aug. 21, 1980.
After 27 years of publication, the
Vanderbilt Register, the bi-weekly paper of record for Vanderbilt University's more than 20,000 faculty and staff, was retired in Sept. 2007. In its place, a three-pronged internal communications program was implemented, in order to provide more timely information and meet employees' information needs in a more personalized way.
First is a new monthly print magazine,
The Vanderbilt View. The oversize tabloid, which is available on 80 racks across campus, features engaging articles, bold photography and an innovative design. The publication focuses on the people, programs and facilities that make Vanderbilt great. It is produced by the
Register's former
editorial team.
Second is a a regularly updated Web site,
www.vanderbilt.edu/myvu, which includes breaking news, classified ads, employee benefit information, discounts, news releases, original video and audio programming and podcasts. This site is managed by
Missy Pankake in the
Vanderbilt News Service.
Third is a twice-weekly e-mail, the MyVU Preview. it alerts all individuals with a vanderbilt.edu e-mail address of important information they need to do their jobs each day.
