CampVandy is a day camp accommodating up to 250 children from 4 to 12 years of age. It runs for 9 weeks during the summer months from June 2 – August 1st. Space is limited so REGISTER EARLY!!

Camp Sessions

Camp Sessions run from Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. A maximum of 250 participants can be accommodated weekly. The cost is $195 per camper per week for the Nashville Community and $165 per camper per week for all Vanderbilt employees and current Rec. Center Members. Cost includes special activities, arts and crafts, kids climb, a camp T-shirt, two snacks and drinks each day. For your convenience, we offer a nine week camp with early and after-care. Each care services adds an additional fee of $50.00 per week, or $100.00 for both early and after-care. Early care hours are from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, and after-care hours are from 4:15 pm to 6:00 pm.

Each week has its own camp theme in which the activities and special events are based.

  1. June 2 – 6 BLUE WEEK (Staying Alive Week)
    Our summer will open with a whole week devoted to staying safe!   Campers will learn about water safety, fire safety, bike safety, and more.  We’ll even host CampVandy Survivor at the end of the week to give campers the opportunity to show off the incredible safety knowledge they’ve learned all week long.
  2. June 9-13 YELLOW WEEK (Back in Time Week)
    Back by popular demand, CampVandy Spirit Week will really get the campers up and cheering!  From Costume Day to Wacky Wednesday, this week will be full of excitement!  Campers will break out paint and brushes to create CampVandy Spirit Banners that will adourn our gymnasium for our Campers vs. Counselor’s Good Games Day.  We got spirit-yes we do!
  3. June 16-20 PINK WEEK (Respect Week)
    Grab your passport for an adventure around the world.  Our first stop:  Greece.  Campers will learn about the history of the Olympic Games and the famous Olympic Rings symbol.  After creating flags from various countries, campers prepare for a celebration of Nations Parade, The week would not be complete without CampVandy Olympics.  Let the games begin!
  4. June 23-27 GREEN WEEK (Pump it up Week) 
    This week, campers will learn how to make fitness fun.  We will have tons of ways to get up, get moving, and have a blast all at the same time.  Days are balanced with games and activities that promote wellness and health.  We will test our strength and endurance with a challenging obstacle course, learn to prepare healthful snacks, and participate in a camper-counselor Good Games day!!
  5. June 30 – July 4 ORANGE WEEK (Performance Week) camp will not meet on July 4th.
    CampVandy’s seeing red, white, and blue!  Enjoy a week full of 4th of July activities celebrating America’s favorite pastimes.  Create your own flag, compete in potato sack races, and satisfy your hunger with hot dogs.  We will also be electing a camp president, so get your campaigns ready.  Happy Birthday USA!!!
  6. July 7-11 CHERRY WEEK (We Are The Champions Week)
    Calling all athletes and game enthusiasts!  Come see how many games, matches, and tournaments we can cram into five days.  Challenge yourself to compete in good old-fashioned games and crazy new ones, plus everything in between.
  7. July 14-18 GOLD WEEK (What does the Fox Say?) 
    Take a walk on the wild side. During this week, we will set off on an expedition to learn about all kinds of creatures and even transform into our favorite animal through face paint and drama.  Campers will also participate in a contest for best animal impression.  A highlight of the week-CampVandy welcomes the Nashville Zoo.
  8. July 21-25 SALMON WEEK (I need a Hero Week)
    What makes a hero?  Super powers, muscles, X-ray vision?  No, what makes a hero is all wrapped up in you!  Discover what the secret to being a super hero is all about, whether your hero is a firefighter, a veteran, or a character from comic books or movies.  We’ll write letters to our favorite heroes, take a superhero fitness test, dress as heroes, and even be visited by a few of our favorite local heroes.
  9. July 28-Aug. 1 BUFF WEEK (On Broadway Week)
    Get ready to walk the red carpet!  Music, theater, dance –whatever your talent, this is your week to shine! All kinds of creative expressions will find their way to the CampVandy’s Got Talent stage this week.  Campers will experience the talents of local artist and will create their own own masterpieces.

** Week 5 will be pro-rated for the Independence Day Holiday, NO camp that day.

Registration

If not registering online, registration forms may be mailed or dropped off in the Office of Campus Recreation during office hours Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Registration begins March 3, 2014. Up to 250 participants can be accommodated weekly.
  • CampVandy requires a $50.00 deposit (non-refundable and non-transferable) for each week enrolled. Payments may be made by check, money order, and credit / debit card. On-line registration is now available.

  • The $50.00 deposit will be deducted from the weekly balance.
  • The balance (including fees for early care and after-care services is due on that Monday between 7:00 am and 9:15 am for each week your child is enrolled.
  • Registration fees must be collected for all weeks registered.
  • Registration may be returned in person to the Office of Campus Recreation between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Daily enrollment, if available, is $65.00 per day plus other services.

PLEASE NOTE: The Office of Campus Recreation is not responsible for registration forms left at the front desk or under the door.

Early Care / After Care

Due to safety and security concerns and adequate staffing, 24 hours notice is required for Early Care and After Care the week your child is attending camp. There will be a $10 late fee per care fee if not pre-registered and pre-paid in advance.

Swim School Group Lessons Transfer Program

Vanderbilt Swim School (VSS) offering a wide variety of classes and times to suite your need and schedule. For more information on classes, dates and times, please check out our website.

CampVandy Swim School Transfers – CampVandy participants signed up for CampVandy aftercare service can be transferred from CampVandy to the Vanderbilt Swim School for the 4:00 and 4:45 pm class only.

Parents must purchase CampVandy aftercare services through CampVandy (Add $50 per week) to be able to participate in the CampVandy Swim School transfer program.

When registering for Vanderbilt Swim School group lessons, you must indicate if transfer is for either for 4:00 or 4:45 pm transfer time.

All group lessons consist of four 40-minute classes. (Mon through Thur) at a cost of $70 per session.

Arrivals

Upon arrival, children will meet in the gym on court #1 directly inside the North Entrance of the Recreation Center. All children must be accompanied and signed in. Your child CANNOT be signed in before 8:30am unless he/she is enrolled in early care.

Departures

Campers will be dismissed between 3:45 and 4:00pm. After care will be dismissed from the gym on court #1.You must present a photo ID upon arrival of picking up your child. Anyone attempting to pick up their child without an ID will be asked to go get their ID. Camp counselors and OCR staff are not available to walk children to vehicles at any time. Children will not be dismissed from CampVandy without a parental written consent. Please make sure your authorization for pickup is up to date.

What To Bring

During warm summer days, campers enjoy both outdoor and indoor activities. We recommend shorts, t-shirts, non-marking athletic shoes (no sandals), hat, bathing suit, towel, and sunscreen. Please have clothing labeled with your child’s name. CampVandy is not responsible for lost or stolen items including IPods, Toys, clothing, phones, or any other personal items.

Parking

Parking: Parking availability for all CampVandy and Other Youth Programs effective March 1, 2012 is as follows:

  • 2 hour open parking is available on Children’s Way closest to Natchez Trace.
  • Meters are available along Children’s Way immediately following the 2 hour Parking
  • Medical Center staff with proper permit may park in lot 74 and 75.
  • Zone 3 parking is available behind the Recreation Center
  • Lot 75a Located on the corner of Children’s way and Natchez is a cross park lot.

Patrons parking on Children’s Way will access the center by 25th Ave or Natchez Trace. The Office of Campus Recreation will not be responsible for ticketing and / or towing fees. Thank you for your participation.
