CampVandy W.I.L.D (Wilderness Immersion and Leadership Development) is designed to provide teens the opportunity to break from the typical summer experience and explore the wilderness areas around Middle Tennessee through a variety of outdoor activities.
Our staff will usher campers through a week of intensive leadership and skill development opportunities aimed at building self-confidence, personal and community awareness, and a connection with the natural environment. Each day, campers will engage in different outdoor activities that could include hiking, flat water boating, rock climbing, a high ropes course, and zip lining. The week culminates in a capstone service project around the greater Nashville area.
Through taking part in these activities, campers will develop a deeper understanding of the differences between discomfort and disability, as well as perceived physical limitations. In addition, campers will cultivate a sense of global citizenship by developing an ethic of leadership and service to the world around them. Campers will step away from this experience feeling re-energized about their place in the world and their relationships with the communities in which they live.
To quote the great wilderness educator Kurt Hahn, “A ship in harbor is safe, but that’s not what ships are built for.” Let’s explore the wilderness in which we live and tap into the unknown potential of W.I.L.D! Price $285
