Friday, September 18, 12 -1 PM Vandy Cooks with Kayla Little, RD: Desserts Topped Off with Mindful Eating
Join Kayla as she talks about mindful eating and demonstrates preparation of recipes perfect for savoring. Taking the time to enjoy the eating experience or ‘mindful eating’ allows you to be more aware of what and how much you are eating. Eating mindfully is deliberately paying attention, being fully aware of internal and external feelings within yourself and your environment with all working to develop your having a better relationship with food and overeating.
Wednesday, October 14, 5 -6 PM Vandy Cooks with Melinda Mahoney, BS, RDN, LDN: Cooking on the Wild Side
Vandy Cooks is calling all hunters, anglers, adventurers, and foodies to join Melinda in the kitchen for some wild game cooking! Embrace your wild side as you try new foods, swap stories, and celebrate the outdoors with delicious food. Learn techniques from the field to the table that will help you produce mouthwatering creations. This event is for anyone who enjoys food, not just the avid outdoorsman. Everyone will leave with food preparation tips that can be applied to any type of meat. Feel free to wear camouflage and bring pictures of your trophy game!

Gather around the table with Dean Townes to experience and discuss the joy of meals shared in community. All too often our busy lives distract us from the positive relationships and social interactions that can be built from slowing down to dine with a friend. Food enjoyed in community provides the perfect environment for deep connections and understanding of different cultures, beliefs, and traditions. Come and celebrate the joy of eating as we engage in rich conversation and comfort foods with a healthy spin.
The Vandy Cooks demonstrations are offered monthly in the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center’s Demonstration Kitchen to celebrate healthy eating at Vanderbilt.
