Friday, August 22nd 12 – 1 PM Cole Crop Vegetable Creations

Please join us for Cole Crop Vegetable Creations with Marilyn C. Holmes, MS, RD, LDN as she creates unique and taste pleasing creations using kohlrabi, cauliflower and more in the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center Demonstration Kitchen. Registration is not required. Receive recipes; taste and enjoy samples of foods prepared.

Please join Stacey Kendrick, Vanderbilt Heart Institute Health Educator in the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center Demonstration Kitchen for National Cholesterol Month.

Friday, October 17th, 11:30 – 12:30 PM – Clean Eating with Executive Chef Carroll Lucius

Join Chef Lucius Carroll in the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center Demonstration Kitchen as he creates “Clean Eating” recipes – using seasonal, natural and unprocessed foods.  Receive samples and recipes.

Nutrition minute held once a week at the VRWC will offer quick tips on ways to maintain healthy eating habits.

Feel free to stop in for a minute or stay the whole time. Nutrition Minute is held in the lobby of the VRWC.

Thursday August 7th 10:30 – 11:30 AM ‘An Apple A Day’…

This well used phrase is attributed to Benjamin Franklin and is said to have appeared in Poor Richard’s Almanac. The apple is a versatile fall fruit that is great for snack, dessert, entrée and/or a side dish. Stop by to taste samples and receive heart healthy recipes using this fruit paired with other ingredients that make for a great taste and healthy, too.

This vegetable is prolific this time of year. Using it fast enough before it parishes is hard to do. But these recipes with samples are wonderful ways enjoy this seasonal vegetable.

‘Natural’ – Hype or Not? Taste and compare items marked natural as compared to those that are not marked as such while receiving information on use of the word ‘natural’ for items in grocery stores.
