Fields User Policies

The following is a breakdown of available fields and the policies regarding those fields.

Natchez Turf Field:

Location: off of Natchez Trace and Blakemore Ave. Entrance- pedestrian gate – single gate located on middle – east side of field.

Hours:  Monday – Friday, 6:00 am – 10 pm, Saturday 9 am – 10 pm and Sunday 12 noon – 10 pm; Hours will vary due to holiday, summer and university breaks

Lights: button located on the closest light pole (southeast side) of pedestrian gate  

RecField 1:

Location: on Children’s Way (directly across from the outdoor recreation center). Entrances: double gate located on middle north side of field,

Hours: Monday – Friday, 6:00 am – 10 pm, Saturday 9 am – 10 pm and Sunday 12 noon – 10 pm; Hours will vary due to holiday, summer and university breaks.

Lights: button located on northwest light pole

RecField 2:

Location: on Children’s Way (directly across from the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center); Entrance – single gate located on middle north side of field.

Hours: Monday – Friday 6:00 am – 10 pm, Saturday 9 am – 10 pm and Sunday 12 noon – 10 pm; Hours will vary due to holiday, summer and university breaks.

Lights: button located on electric box on field

Usage Options (3 Choices)

  • Priority is given to registered Sport Clubs and Intramural programs under the supervision of the Office of Campus Recreation
  • University and Medical Center Traffic and Parking policies are enforced.
  • Lights must be off by 10:00 pm (no exceptions)

1)   Free Play (non-reservations) is allowed when available upon request. Request for access is made at the Welcome Center located in the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center and / or calling 615-343-6627. When available, Natchez Turf Field, RecField 1, and Rec Field 2 are open on a first come, first serve basis. All participants must show VU ID upon request.

2)   Reservation Play (Free) options:  the Natchez Turf Field, RecField 1, and RecField 2 can be reserved once a week, up to one week in advance without a fee. Reservations must be made in person in the Office of Campus Recreation during office hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm., M – F.

Half the field: can be reserved for two hours OR Whole field: can be reserved for one hour

All participants must be students and / or faculty / staff, or possess a current Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center membership and present VU ID or current Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center membership card upon request. Guests must be sponsored and pay a $10.00 guest fee. Guest must present picture ID.

3)   Reservation Play (with a Fee) Option: Participants requiring the field more than the free reservation options above must contact the Office of Schedules and Reservations at 615-322-2448.

Additional Policies and Information:

  • All participants must be able to present their VU ID upon request.
  • No alcohol. No glass containers. No pets allowed. No metal cleats.
  • No grills allowed on the playing surfaces. Goals should be carried when relocating, not dragged on field.
  • Loss of field privileges may occur from:
  1. Not following OCR field policies and procedures.
  2. Inappropriate conduct will be reported to the university conduct and/or the appropriate office.
  • Emergency Procedures – use emergency phones located at southeast corner of the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center. Please call 615-343-6627 for immediate assistance.
  • Inclement weather – the OCR reserves the right to close the field during inclement weather without prior notice. Always have an alternative site and check the weather daily.  Participants are encouraged to leave the field if thundering and lightening. Please seek shelter inside the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center.
  • University and Medical Center Traffic and Parking policies are enforced.
  • Ten Minute grace period on reservations.
