Common Intramural Questions
Who can play intramural sports?
All students, faculty, and full time staff are eligible to participate in intramural sports. With the exception of basketball faculty and staff must be a member of the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center or pay the daily guest fee to participate in the activities held inside the Recreation Center. Membership is not required for the outdoor activities.
Where is intramural registration?
Intramural registration is completed in the Office of Campus Recreation (OCR) located on the second floor of the Recreation Center.
When are games played?
Games are typically played Sunday from 1 – 5 pm and Monday through Thursday between 5 – 9 pm. Game days and times vary from sport to sport
What if I don’t have a full team of people to play with?
You are able to register as a free agent in any team sport. If numbers allow you will be placed on a roster with other individuals to form a whole team. If numbers do not allow a team to be formed, existing teams may pick up free agents for their teams.
How much does it cost to play Intramural Sports?
It varies by sport and by team, but the range is $20 – $40 per team. The individual / dual sports have forfeit fee deposits. If individuals forfeit less than two matches / games the fee is refunded back to the participant. Most forfeit fees are $20.
How many teams can I play on?
In each sport an individual can play on one team. The exception is you may play on a men’s or women’s team in addition to a co recreational team.
How many people are on a team?
There is no limit to roster size.
How do I sign up for an intramural team?
Just come to the Office of Campus Recreation located on the second floor of the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center. Complete a registration card and pay any associated fees.
Do we have to provide our own equipment?
This varies by the sport that you are playing. Player jerseys are provided for team sports. Many items such as ball and bats are available from the equipment check out desk for free.
