What are the 2014 hours of operation at the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center (VRWC)?

Academic Year Hours
Monday – Thursday from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Friday from 5 a.m. to midnight
Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday from noon to 11 p.m.

Summer and Holiday Hours
Monday – Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

What amenities will be available?

In the newly renovated and expanded VRWC you will have access to:

  • Expanded weight training area
  • More aerobic equipment
  • A four-lane bowling alley
  • Swimming pool
  • Basketball / Volleyball / Badminton courts
  • Squash and racquetball courts
  • More group fitness class times and options
  • In and outdoor tracks
  • Multi-purpose spaces
  • Demonstration kitchen
  • Renovated wellness resource center
  • And more

What parking options are available?

Parking for the VRWC will be available in Lot 75A with appropriate Vanderbilt parking decal and in a ample number of free 2 hour parking in designated spaces along Children’s Way.

 

 

 

 

 

Note: Policies on cross parking on the University and Medical Center Parking Lots:
Vehicles may be parked only in areas that correspond to their respective parking decals. Vehicles with zone permits may park in any other zone permit after 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and all day Saturday and Sunday. Cross Parking is not authorized in F lots.

Who is eligible to join the VRWC?

Vanderbilt Faculty / Staff
Spouses / Same-Sex Domestic Partners of Vanderbilt Faculty / Staff
Dependents  (Dependents under the age of 18 must be directly supervised at all times.)

What options are there for membership?

Annual memberships are required
We will start taking Membership Applications on Dec. 15th for the new year.

  • Basic membership provides access to the facility anytime except 3 to 9 p.m. Monday – Friday.
  • Premium membership provides access to the facility anytime during its normal hours of operation.

Faculty and staff earning the “Go for the Gold” wellness credit in 2013 will be given the option to apply the amount earned toward membership at the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center. Those who wish to continue to use their “Go for the Gold” wellness credit for health care expenditures, can separately purchase a yearly membership at the front desk of the center. Payroll deduction will also be an option for purchasing a membership.

When can I purchase a membership?

Memberships may be purchased starting in mid-December  and will become effective in January 2014. Faculty / staff earning the 2013 Go for the Gold Wellness Credit may elect to apply their Credit toward membership.

Can my membership be payroll deducted?

Yes, stop by the VRWC Welcome Center to complete the process.

Can I join online?

Not at this time.

Will tours of the facility be available?

Tours are available during all normal operating hours.  Check the VRWC web site for open house and family swim night dates!

Are day rates available?

A guest fee of $10 / visit is available to the Vanderbilt Community. Outside guests must be accompanied by a member of the Vanderbilt Community.

Are towels, lockers and locks available?

Locker and towel service is available. Pricing and sizes of lockers are available on the VRWC website.

If I am faculty / staff and only coming to the outdoor track, will I have to pay a membership fee?

Yes, membership will be required to utilize the outdoor track.

Will membership include intramural sports?

Faculty / Staff members of the VRWC may participate in all intramural sports.  Visit the Intramural web page for a list of the activities and registration dates.

Will membership include access to sport clubs?

Faculty / Staff members of the VRWC may participate in all sport clubs.  Visit the Sport Club web page for a list of the clubs.
