Calendar of Events

To stay current on Vanderbilt’s activities in Washington, the calendar below provides information on events and meetings in which Office of Federal Relations staff are participating, visits from campus officials, and other activities related to national policy decision-making that impacts higher education.

A schedule and calendar for the House of Representatives can be found on the site of the Office of the Clerk. Information on the U.S. Senate can be found on the Senate calendar. Schedules for each congressional committee, detailing committee hearings and events, can also be found on their respective homepages.

November 2009

Nov. 2: Bill Ivey, director of the Curb Center for Art, Enterprise and Public Policy, visits Washington for meetings and an Arts Industries Policy Forum on “Equitable Access to Airwaves” with guest speakers Cheryl Leanza, policy director for the Office of Communications, United Church of Christ, and Michael Shay, environmental activist and founder of one of the first licensed LPFM radio stations in the nation.

Nov. 3-4: Christina West, director of federal relations, participates in the monthly meetings of the Association of American Universities’ Council on Federal Relations.

Nov. 9-11: Elise McMillan, director of community outreach at Vanderbilt's Kennedy Center, visits Washington for meetings.

Nov. 11: Veterans Day

Nov. 12-13: Christina West, director of federal relations, participates in the monthly meetings of the Learn Coalition.

Nov. 17: Christina West, director of federal relations, participates in the monthly meetings of the Coalition for National Security Research, the Energy Sciences Coalition, and the Coalition for National Science Funding in Washington, D.C.

Dec. 9-10: Camilla Benbow, dean of Vanderbilt's Peabody College, visits Washington for the National Science Board meeting.

Dec. 15: Christina West, director of federal relations, participates in the monthly meetings of the Coalition for National Security Research, the Energy Sciences Coalition, and the Coalition for National Science Funding in Washington, D.C.
