I am interested in how people experience and manage their emotion in their everyday lives.
My background in emotion comes from a focus on emotion regulation. In my previous work, I identified predictors of emotion regulation strategy choice. While conducting research on the “output” end of emotion, I began to wonder about the mechanisms on the “input” side of emotion. Building off appraisal theory, I am currently studying how challenge and pride differentially moderate perseverance and performance, which may have implications for the literature on coping with stress. I am also currently conducting studies on the buffering of negative emotion, and would like to eventually segue this work into my previous research on emotion regulation.
