Anna W. Roe

Professor of Psychology
Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering
Associate Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences

Roe studies the neuronal circuitry underlying visual and tactile perception in nonhuman primates. She uses high spatial resolution optical imaging and fMRI methods in combination with electrophysiological and anatomical methods to map networks of fundamental (100-200 um sized) cortical modules in the brain. By understanding how different networks of modules are activated by simple vs complex sensory stimuli and how attention modulates these patterns of activation, she aims to unravel modular circuitry underlying sensory behaviors.
