Innovation Center to support campus ‘makers’; search underway for director

Robert Grajewski named the Evans Family Executive Director of the Innovation Center

About the Center

The Innovation Center will serve as a primary point of contact for all students from all schools and colleges who are interested in innovation and entrepreneurship. In addition to connecting with the various resources across Vanderbilt’s campus, it will serve as a common space for students to develop and test ideas alongside their peers with mentorship from faculty, alumni, corporate partners, the Nashville entrepreneurial community and beyond. Programming, seminars and workshops will be designed to help students from all disciplines grow their ventures at any stage of development.

As envisioned in the university’s most recent Academic Strategic Plan, we seek to further our commitment to fostering a culture of learning and discovery that goes beyond the four walls of the classroom by promoting four intersecting themes:

  1. esbOffering students a rich intellectual community focused on the whole person and lifelong learning;
  2. Investing in multi- and interdisciplinary programs for solving problems facing society;
  3. Building distinguished programs that offer innovative, effective solutions to pressing health and health care problems; and
  4. Transforming education models through technology and research.

The Innovation Center will play a pivotal role in strengthening a “maker” culture that will, in turn, bolster all four of these top priorities.

With 13,000 square feet of dedicated space within the soon-to-be-open 230,000 square foot Engineering and Science Building, the center will become a hub of activity that will foster the innovation culture across campus.
