Students who choose International Relations as their first or second field are expected to take and pass a written and an oral comprehensive exam. During the exam, students will be asked to answer questions to demonstrate a broad and deep knowledge of the IR field and literature as well as the ability to argue and defend positions in response to the questions. The goal is to show that students can be successful researchers and teachers in the field of international relations.
