Diamagnetism of Grapes |
|||||||
Demo DescriptionTwo grapes are skewered on a thin , lightweight rod near the ends. The rod is hung from a thin cotton string with two o-rings on the rod that can be slid till the grape dipole is balanced horizontally in the earths' gravitational field. Subsequent approach of a very strong magnetic field near one grape can lead to repulsion of the grape and rotation of the dipole, if all goes well in the delicate balance of forces and torques. |
