Normal Modes Demonstration for Two Gliders on An Airtrack

Demo Description

Two gliders are joined by a very small 'K' spring. They each have their free end joined to  their respective  track end with an identical 'K' spring .

  • Gliders to float on the air cushion

  • Tiny 'K' Fragile Springs

Instructions

 The setup is shown in the three photos.

The instructor needs to come and play with the setup ahead of time to decide on what techniques of exciting normal modes for this system are appropriate to his/her

abilities and degree of explanation appropriate for his/her students.
