Program Scope

Scope of the Meeting

The scope of the meeting is to bridge the gap between basic and applied science. Apart from recent advances in theoretical modeling and experimental research, special attention will also be paid to novel techniques of optical spectroscopy at interfaces. This meeting is intended to provide an informal atmosphere with ample time for discussions. For this purpose, the program will contain a limited number of invited lectures on the main conference topics. Some contributions selected among the submitted abstracts will be presented orally. The other contributions will be presented in poster sessions. There will be no parallel sessions. We hope that this format will help promote discussions on the current development of the field and we expect all the participants to attend the entire meeting.

Main topics

    Low-Dimensional Structures (Nanostructures)
     Coherent Control of Chemical Reactions
Spatially Resolved Spectroscopy (SNOM, Nonlinear Optical Microscopy)
    Time Resolved Spectroscopy
     Terahertz Spectroscopy
    Reflectance Anisotropy Spectroscopy
Interfaces to Organic Layers and Biological Systems
    Ferromagnetic Layers
Theory of Optical Response (Linear and Non-Linear)
    Rough Surfaces

Invited Speakers

S. James Allen (University of California at Santa Barbara)

Yves Borensztein (University of Paris)

Antonio Cricenti (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche)

Tony Heinz (Columbia University)

Zhiheng Liu (Vanderbilt University)

Gunter Luepke (College of William & Mary)

Redolfo Del Sole (Rome)

Theo Rasing (Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen)

Peter Weightman (Liverpool)

Conference Schedule

The conference schedule can be found at: OSI 7 Schedule.pdf (updated July 12th)

Abstracts

A book of abstracts of both invited and contributed presentations will be prepared for the meeting. Abstracts prepared on a single 8 1/2" x 11" page should be submitted to the email address: osi7@vanderbilt.edu

Please use Times Roman 14 point bold for the title and 12 point for the rest. Affiliations should be given in Italic. The abstract may contain figures and references. Please use MS Word, PDF or LaTEX formats. In the accompanying email, please specify preference of oral or poster presentation.  Abstracts are due by June 8th 2007.

Posters should be printed 48 inches wide and 36 inches tall.  A means to hang them will be provided at the conference.

Proceedings

Proceedings from the conference will be published in Physica Statu Solidi C. The manuscripts will be limited to 5 printed pages for contributed papers and 10 pages for invited contributions.

All conference attendees should register as an author via the following weblink: http://conferences.wiley-vch.de/  This allows us to utilize attendees as reviewers.  This includes secondary authors, students, and those not submitting a manuscript.

Please see Guidelines for Authors.pdf for submission details.  General author instructions with links to the submission templates are available at www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/jabout/102519628/instruct-c08.html

All authors will be required to submit manuscripts in PDF format in addition to either MS Word or LaTeX.

Templates may be found in MS WORD format, or LaTeX.
