The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor appointment in experimental biological physics to begin in the 2009-2010 academic year. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in physics or a related field, a compelling record of research accomplishments, and a strong interest in teaching physics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applications from any area of biological physics will be considered. Active areas of biological physics research at Vanderbilt span the range from single molecules to molecular ensembles to cellular dynamics and systems biology with experimental expertise in imaging science, optics, nanotechnology, microfluidics, electrophysiology, and systems modeling. This work is supported by trans-institutional programs in Imaging Sciences, Integrative Biosystems, Structural Biology, Chemical Biology, Nanoscience, and Advanced Computing which foster close collaborations between Physics, Chemistry, and Biological Sciences with the School of Engineering and the School of Medicine. Vanderbilt University is located in Nashville, Tennessee, a cosmopolitan city rich in cultural activities.
Applications, including a curriculum vitae, list of research publications, statement of research and teaching interests, several representative publications, and at least three letters of recommendation, should be sent to:
