IRAQ: Two Perspectives of Life & War in Iraq

Two chances to hear unique and opposing, first-hand perspectives on Iraq. Come meet Ceylon Mooney, a young guy who has traveled to Iraq twice in violation of U.S.-led economic sanctions. A non-violent war resister, Mooney tours throughout the U.S. and Europe, speaking out as a lecturer and as a member of the Pezz, a punk band tied to human rights campaigns.

And, meet Ali Mahmoud, an Iraqi ex-pat now living in Nashville. Mahmoud was born in Iraq and graduated from Baghdad University in 1968. He then served as the cultural attaché at the Kuwaiti Prime Minister's office before fleeing in 1990 as Saddam Hussein's forces invaded Kuwait. Mahmoud now works with Metro Refugee Services and chairs the Iraqi House in Nashville.

Held twice:
Wednesday, April 9th
4:00 PM in Calhoun 109

and later that same evening...

Wednesday, April 9th
7:30 PM in Lewis Reading Room
