Study Skills

High intelligence doesn't guarantee academic success. In fact, many students do not learn effective study techniques because they are so bright. However, when students enter a competitive and challenging school such as Vanderbilt, they often find more intellectual hurdles than they anticipated, and they may begin to question their own abilities.

For those students, learning how to study efficiently makes the difference between high and mediocre grades. Efficient study behavior also allows students to experience more of college life than just "hitting the books." Some of the questions below may help you to examine your own approach to learning:


1 Even when I read my assignments I often can't recall the information I was supposed to learn. True False
