Group Therapy
Group therapy is a powerful treatment modality offered at the Psychological and Counseling Center. The power of group lies in the support and feedback given by other group members as well as by the therapists. Groups generally consist of between four and ten members and are led by one or two therapists. While joining a group can feel intimidating, many mental health professionals believe that group treatment offers advantages which can not be found in individual counseling or therapy. But don't worry, in a group you would not be coerced to speak about any issues you wish to remain private.
We offer several types of groups. Examples are shown below. New groups are often developed as needed. Not all groups are active currently, but please feel free to call the Center at 322-2571 (2-2571 on campus) if you see a topic that you would like to inquire about.
TOPICS INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
- General Psychotherapy
- Assertiveness
- Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgendered Issues
