Research Enterprise Newsletter - December 2007: Animal Care & Use News

Office of Animal Welfare Assurance announces new policies on web

The Office of Animal Welfare Assurance would like to alert investigators to the following new policies that have recently gone into effect. Please review these on the IACUC web site to determine if they will affect your research.

  • Occupational Health (requirements when adding new personnel or species)
  • Use of Standardized Nomenclature for Mice and Rats
  • Extension of Weaning Time in Mice
  • Animal Research Subcontracted to Other Institutions
  • Surgical Techniques
  • Euthanasia
  • Recordkeeping
  • Animal Acclimation and Conditioning

Presentations from the VU ACUP Quarterly Informational Meetings are posted afterwards on the DAC web site. We encourage any and all animal users to attend the meetings, but if you can't be with us, this is a great way to stay updated on the latest information from both DAC and the OAWA.

Please contact OAWA at 6-8163 or visit us at MCN S-4322 for more information.
