Mathematica presentation slated for October 16

Wolfram Research (maker of Mathmatica) will provide a free demonstration of the capabilities in Mathematica 6 on October 16 from 9:00 -11:30 a.m. in 238 Hill Center. Topics of this technical talk are directly applicable for use in teaching and research and will include:

  • 2D and 3D visualization
  • Dynamic interactivity
  • On-demand scientific data
  • Example-driven course materials
  • Symbolic interface construction
  • Practical and theoretical applications

IRB offers human subjects training

The upcoming VUMC Institutional Review Board (IRB) training is listed below. Register for these and other IRB human subjects training at mc.vanderbilt.edu/irb/education/.

  • Clinical Research Immersion Boot Camp - 10/11/2007
    Research Support Services Research Orientation Program. This program supports the development of skills and competencies essential to good clinical research practice. Participants may take the Purple shuttle from the MCN round wing entrance to 2525 West End. This session is approved for IRB education credit. Lunch will be provided.
  • Research Matters: Biomedical - 12/05/2007
    Wendy Lloyd, LPN, CIM, CCRP and Jan Zolkower, BS, CIP, CCRP This is a basic course on human subject protections in biomedical research.
  • Research Matters: Social/Behavioral - 12/12/2007
    Tony Medure, MA, CIP, RAC and Gene Gallagher, MSPH, CIP, RAC This is a basic course on human subject protections in social and behavioral research.

GCRC Weekly Skills Workshops slated for October

The General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) is offering Weekly Skills Workshops every Friday from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. in the GCRC conference room, A-3210 MCN. Below are topics slated for October workshops, which include a discussion, breakfast and CME credit.
