Vanderbilt adopts new policy on compliance with export control law
Chancellor Zeppos has signed the Vanderbilt University Policy on Compliance with Export Control Law and Regulation.
These regulations have the potential to impact our university community when faculty, staff or students travel internationally, agree to restrict dissemination of research findings (e.g., agree to pre-publication approval), share controlled information with foreign nationals, or ship controlled technologies outside the U.S., or others. The penalties for non-compliance can be very high and can be assessed against the individual.
Information is available at vanderbilt.edu/exportcompliance including FAQs, links to government websites, news, and other tools to help our community understand their responsibilities for export control compliance.
Please take the steps necessary and appropriate to ensure that faculty, staff and students are made aware of where export-control policy can be found and are familiar with its content. Vanderbilt Export Compliance (VEC) office is available to assist departments, programs, centers and individuals with export control issues. Please contact VEC to schedule a training workshop for your unit, as appropriate.
