Research Enterprise Newsletter - May 2008: Grants & Contracts News

NIH posts information on protecting research data & information

The NIH on April 15 posted a notice aimed at extramural grantees, titled, "NIH Renews Focus on Protecting Sensitive Data and Information Used in Research." All extramural grantees are encouraged to carefully review this important notice, found at grants.nih.gov.

IRB DISCOVR-E system proves popular

The IRB DISCOVR-E study submission system has been up and running for a while now. Originally the IRB saw a 50/50 split between paper and electronic submissions. That spilt has shifted, with the IRB are now receiving 95% of submissions electronically. As time goes on, the IRB plans to add more features and capabilities to the system. To make things even easier for investigators, we have moved all of the DISCOVR-E specific forms into the "DISCOVR-E Library" located on the IRB web site. Now PIs can complete forms in advance and attach them to the submission as they work through the system.
