Research Enterprise Newsletter - April 2009: IRB News
IRB form additions announced
Beginning April 1, the IRB will be adding a MS Word 2007 option to all of its forms. Some investigators have had compatibility issues depending on which version of Word they are using (2003 vs. 2007). This option will make things easier for all of you to download and work with while you complete your study submissions.
Consent form template changes
In light of changes to new HIPAA security/privacy rules, the IRB has changed the ICD template language to read: "The study results will be kept in your research record for at least six years after the study is finished. At that time, the research data that has not been put in your medical record will be kept for an unknown length of time. Any research data that has been put into your medical record will also be kept for an unknown length of time." This language has already been added to the ICD template and to the "templates" page of the IRB website and is available for immediate download and use.
