Wente and colleagues in Journal of Cell Biology

Dr. Susan Wente and colleagues had an article published in the March 9 issue of the Journal of Cell Biology. You can read either a highlight ("Nuclear pore synthesis on a roll"), or read the full paper.

Gore to chair NIH Study Sesction

Dr. John Gore has been appointed Chair of the Medical Imaging Study Section of the NIH Center for Scientific Review for a two year period from 2009 - 2011.

Chazin grad student lands international recognition

Chris A. Brosey, a graduate student in the Department of Biochemistry mentored by Walter J. Chazin, has been selected to participate in the 59th Lindau Meeting from June 28 to July 3 2009, in Lindau, Germany. The meeting provides the most promising young scientists from around the world an opportunity to meet in a highly initimate setting and exchange ideas with the Chemistry Nobel Laureates. Chris was selected in a nation-wide competition as one of the nominees of the US National Institutes of Health. For more information, see the Conference Website.

Clinical Research Center tops in patient satisfaction

Vanderbilt's Clinical Research Center has been a Top Performer for patient satisfaction scores for the fourth year in a row. According to CRC Director Gordon Bernard, M.D., being in the 100th percentile in patient satisfaction is a remarkable achievement.

OOR sponsors new lecture series

A new lecture series focusing on the challenges and opportunities presented by the blending of science, medicine and business debuted in March. Titled "Life at the Intersection of Science, Medicine, and Business," the series will give science and business leaders a platform to share their personal experiences developing scientific and biomedical products and services. The Office of Research, the Office of Technology Transfer and Enterprise Development, and the Owen Graduate School of Management Entrepreneurship Center are co-sponsoring the series.
