Research Enterprise Newsletter - April 2007: Education & Training News

Biostatistics clinics available

The Department of Biostatistics offers daily noon clinics (lunch provided) for basic, translational, clinical, and health services investigators planning research studies, experiments, or analyses, or for those needing help interpreting statistics in an article. See biostat.mc.vanderbilt.edu/Clinics for details.

Coeus training sessions announced

Three weeks of Coeus training will begin April 16 with "Getting Started in Coeus Premium," in preparation for upcoming June submissions. "Proposal Development in Coeus Premium" and "Users and Approvals in Coeus" will follow. PIs who wish to develop their own proposals in Coeus must attend, although attendance is not required for faculty members whose AOs or GMs develop proposals for them. Anyone who wants to develop a proposal in Coeus must attend all three training sessions (in order). Online training will be available for individuals who are required to approve proposals and for those who will only be uploading the research plan. Visit the Grants & Contracts Management website to register.

Upcoming Grants & Contracts Training

Upcoming GCM training sessions include Export Controls, Finding Funding, and Successful Project Management. GCM is also bringing back eSNAP Made Easy, Just in Time Superstars, Straight Talk on Other Support, Introducing eRA Commons, Lifecycle of a Grant, and Clinical Trial Budgeting. GCM is also lining up several new online classes for you to complete at your convenience from your own computer. If you have ideas for other sessions you'd like to see, please send Sam Gannon an email with your idea.
