Research Enterprise Newsletter - March 2009: Procurement News

As your Research Procurement Team, our mission is to help the Research Community with contract negotiations and supplier management.

ITS Software Store offers discounted Vector NTI

The ITS Software Store has received multiple requests from the Medical Center to add Invitrogen's Vector NTI Advance 11 for Windows product to its storefront. Vector NTI offers sequence analysis and data management functionality to researchers. The Software Store has negotiated a 79% discount off the academic price of $2,400/license. Each license costs $499/machine and includes:

  • Perpetual use rights (i.e. the software never expires)
  • Technical support via email
  • Update rights to version 11 revisions
  • Backward use rights for version 10
  • An additional 48% discount when upgrading to future versions

Version 12 is expected to be released during 2011. Licenses may be installed on systems owned by Vanderbilt departments, employees and current students. The software may only be used for non-profit research. Orders may be placed through the ITS Software Store. Please contact the Software Store at software.store@vanderbilt.edu for additional information.

Buying items before the end of the fiscal year

It is important to place orders budgeted for FY 2009 in time for the equipment to arrive before June 30. Remember: it's not when the order is placed in FY09, it is when it is delivered. Therefore, it must also be delivered in FY09 (i.e., before June 30) in order to be paid from the FY09 budget. Please keep in mind that for large dollar equipment, Procurement might need to negotiate the Terms and Conditions and this could lead to a delay in your order being placed with the supplier. The earlier you involve Procurement, the quicker the final order is placed. For any questions or if you need assistance, please contact your appropriate Purchasing Agent or send an email to Michael Jessing.
