As a service and compliance office, GCM Grants Administration has the responsibility of serving both internal and external clients. These clients consist of VUMC faculty/staff and the numerous organizations both federal and non-federal that sponsor Medical Center programs. Grants Administration works to maintain a balance among these clients that results in sponsored agreements that are satisfactory for all.

Prior to submission to the sponsor, proposals are reviewed for conformance to Medical Center policy and sponsor guidelines. This conformance encompasses a complete range of sponsored program management, including pre-award responsibilities for coordination of routing, review, and institutional approval of all VUMC proposals and applications; award receipt and center request/budget submission review; re-budgeting and institutional prior approval; and non-financial account closeout activities.
