Mission Statement

Mission Statement

GCM's role is to facilitate, promote, and support Vanderbilt University Medical Center investigators in the world class research and sponsored activities that occur here at VUMC. Each individual conducting research should uphold the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct. We are committed to providing information, tools and services to help further that standard. Accuracy, compliance, and integrity guide our actions. We want our responsibilities to be viewed as a service that adds value, not an obstacle to overcome.

GCM's Role & Responsibilities

The Office of Grants & Contracts Management (GCM) is the central office to administer all aspects of grant proposal review, electronic submission, grant and contract awards management, and contract negotiation with sponsors on behalf of Vanderbilt University Medical Center. GCM serves as the authorized institutional official for external sponsors and ensures the Medical Center's due diligence as it works to be among the top 10 academic research medical centers by 2010. GCM is responsible for policy interpretation and compliance assurance to the Medical Center's research community and sponsoring agencies. GCM staff strive to perform accurate and timely application reviews for approval, rebudget requests, and other award issues for sponsored projects. GCM maintains a coordinated and consistent approach on institutional issues involving sponsored projects.
