Neurogenomis Core

The Neurogenomics Core provides multiple automated technologies for DNA analysis, with an emphasis on single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) discovery and screening. High throughput SNP discovery and screening is performed via temperature gradient capillary electrophoresis (TGCE) using the 96-capillary Reveal platform from SpectruMedix. Large scale SNP screening of known polymorphisms are performed on the PSQ-96 from Pyrosequencing, Inc. Traditional fluorescent dye-labeled sequencing services are also available, using an ABI 310 Prism Genetic Analyzer from Applied Biosystems, for confirmation of SNPs discovered via TGCE and for small-scale sequencing projects. The Core also oversees tools for DNA/RNA gel analysis with an Alpha Innotek Imaging system and for RNA/DNA quantitation with a Typhoon Molecular Imager from Molecular Devices.
