Lipids/Lipoproteins Core

The Lipids/Lipoprotein Core provides investigators with a range of analytical lipid metabolism measurements needed in the study of nutrition-based disease. Assays related to lipid metabolism include plasma lipids; lipoprotein fractionation and characterization; extraction, separation, and quantitation of lipids from tissues, cells, or plasma; fatty acid profiles or lipid esters by gas liquid chromatography; quantitation of individual phospholipids; and short-chain fatty acid analysis by gas liquid chromatography. In addition, the Core provides education and training to investigators concerning these services.
