Electron Microscopy Core
The Electron Microscopy Core offers equipment and expertise in microscope operation, sample preparation, data interpretation, and experimental design at the ultrastructural level. It is fully equipped to carry out numerous aspects of routine as well as specialized electron microscopy. The Core offers preparative techniques (embedding and sectioning, critical point drying, high-resolution low-angle and rotary shadowing, and cryo-IVEM); research techniques (immuno- and enzyme-cytochemistry, autoradiography, and whole-mount microscopy); and analytical techniques (on- and off-line microcomputer-based systems for image processing, pattern analysis, and 3D reconstruction). In addition, the Core provides education and training and houses an extensive array of computer software for image processing and analysis.
