DNA Resources Core
The DNA Resources Core provides services in DNA extraction, storage, and quantitation as well as the transformation and growth of lymphoblastoid cell lines and high-throughput genotyping for genome screening. Since its inception in 1997, the Core has processed approximately 80,000 samples, acquiring extensive experience in the management of patient samples and storage of DNA and related records. Processed DNA samples are stored in color and bar-coded cryo-tubes in a secure system that is accessed through the DNA Resources Core database using passwords and assigned user names—a system that ensures investigator control of banked samples. The Core also offers services in the separation, viral transformation, and cryopreservation of human lymphoblasts. In addition, a Bio-Rad CHEF Mapper pulse-field gel electrophoresis device is available for separating very high molecular weight fragments.
