Computational Genomics

The Computational Genomics Core provides the hardware and software support, along with expertise for programming, database development, systems administration and bioinformatics as they relate to any aspect of genetics. The CGC harbors all the necessary programs for genetic statistical analysis, including both linkage and association analysis, and also hosts the Celera Genomics Databases.

The CGC’s computational infrastructure consists multiple computer and data storage servers capable of handling small and medium size projects. Large computer projects can be managed through the CGC’s interactions with ACCRE.

The CGC has the capability to create custom software using a variety of programming languages. The core has and does produce stand alone software for genetic analysis, as well as web applications for phenotype and genotype data entry and retrieval. The core has also created LIMS software and has the capabilty to analyze a full range of genotype and sequence data.
