Vanderbilt University Medical Center is ranked 15th and made the Honor Roll of the nation's best hospitals, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report. In 2008, VUMC made the Top 25 in 11 of 16 adult and pediatric specialties. Rankings were:

  • Kidney Disease — 9
  • Urology — 10
  • Ear, Nose and Throat — 14
  • Cancer — 14
  • Pediatric Neonatology — 14
  • Endocrinology — 15
  • Respiratory Disorders — 18
  • Pediatric Neurology — 20
  • Pediatrics, General — 23
  • Heart & Heart Surgery — 23

The School of Medicine placed 15th among 126 medical schools in U.S. News & World Report's "Best Graduate Schools" for 2009.

Researchers from across the U.S. and abroad ranked Vanderbilt the 5th best place in the U.S. to work in science, according to a 2006 survey conducted by The Scientist magazine.
