Walk With Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

Mayor Karl Dean is inviting all Nashvillians to join him in walking 100 miles during the summer of 2014. This citywide health challenge is designed to encourage people of all ages and fitness levels to get regular physical activity!

Participating in the challenge is simple. Start by creating a profile and join the OLLI group then you can  log  your physical activity once you are signed into your profile. Everyone who logs 100 miles of walking by the end of August 2014 will receive a free t-shirt! A Walk 100 Miles finale celebration and festival will be held for participants to receive their shirts.

To meet your 100-mile goal, you can walk on your own or walk with our OLLI group and participate in the “Walk with the Mayor” group walks. The Mayor’s group walks will be scheduled each week at parks and greenways and areas in Davidson County! Visit the community calendar  for details on the Mayor’s upcoming walks!

Fall Kick Off September 9th 5 - 7 pm

The Fall Kick Off will be held at the Vanderbilt Blair School of Music.  Guest speaker will be Nashville Mayor Karl Dean along with a performance by the OLLI Steel Drum Band. A cocktail reception will follow the program. 

Complimentary parking is provided across the street from the Blair School of Music in West Garage. Use the entrance on Children’s Way.

$20 per person.  Register online for you and a guest!

 fall trip

Fall Day Trip October 2nd 8 am - 5 pm

The OLLI Fall Day Trip will be to Lynchburg and Bell Buckle, TN. Depart at 8 am from Belle Meade United Methodist Church (121 Davidson Road).  Our first stop will be in Lynchburg, to tour the Jack Daniel’s Distillery. (Wear comfortable shoes this will include a walking tour with a few flights of stairs.) Family style, all you can eat Lunch is included at Miss Mary Bobo’s.

After lunch we will travel to Bell Buckle for the history and tour of The Webb School.  This is a top private co-educational, boarding and college preparatory school.  We will arrive back in Nashville around 5 pm.

OLLI members have the opportunity to enroll at the Vanderbilt Alumni discounted rate for Sarratt Art Studio classes, like pottery, digital photography or jewelry making.
