OLLI Connect Explore Expand (CEE) Groups are intended to offer a smaller and more hands-on-experience than traditional OLLI classes. The size and nature of the groups will vary depending on the preferences of the members. They will be lead and maintained by OLLI members.

If you would like to sign up and participate, please email   with the specified group you are interested in! The CEE group leader will contact those members interested in participating.  We also appreciate your suggestions for future group ideas.


OLLI Restaurant Review Group - This group will be led by Viv Pocek and Mary Raffety. The group will be eating at area restaurants and reviewing them based on criteria that the group creates.

If you would like to participate with the Restaurant Review Group, please email us at . The group leaders will email you with details on the next date and time they are getting together!  After each visit, you are able to offer your critique of the restaurant to share with other OLLI members.  Please keep checking back for updates and where the group is meeting next!

Core Class Discussion Groups - These groups will be led by Gail Martin. Each group will meet immediately after the 9:30 am "Film, Fantasy, and Food: Spanish Cuisine and Culture" Wednesday class and the “Exploring Antarctica” Thursday class both held at The Commons.  These discussions will give an opportunity to examine and consider the content of the class, and share experiences and opinions.

Walking/Hiking Group -This group will be led by Doug Burroughs and Beth Gottlieb.  

This fall we will enjoy a guided walking tour of the Vanderbilt campus and its many sculptures! Two dates are offered, October 16th 8-9 am and October 21st 3-4 pm and space is limited to 12 for each group.  Please choose which date you'd like to participate in by emailing us at oshervu@vanderbilt.eduWe will email you details on where to park and meet our tour guide for that respective date.

Also of interest, are the NTOS bird walks held every Wednesday morning now through October 15th for the fall migration birds.  These are held at Radnor Lake 7:30 am on Sept. 24th, Oct. 1st, 8th and 15th.  Additional details can be found

Once you have emailed us and expressed interest in joining, the group leaders will email you the confirmed details regarding the next upcoming activity scheduled.

OLLI Book Club  - New for this fall is our first OLLI Book Club. This group will be led by Kay Simmons.  The book selected will be "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien.  Members can utilize their Vanderbilt Barnes & Noble 10% discount in purchasing this book as well!  This critically acclaimed book has sold over 2 million copies worldwide and was a New York Times book of the century.  It has received multiple awards such as France’s Prix du Meilleur Livre Etranger Award and the Chicago Tribune Heartland Prize, as well as being a Pulitzer Prize finalist and a national Book Critics Circle award finalist.
