Shivratri Sleepover by Vandy Karma

Vandy Karma puts on our annual Shivratri Sleepover in the Spring. The idea for the Shivratri Sleepover came from the Hindu festival of Shivratri, in which devotees honor Lord Shiva by offering Bael leaves and keeping a night long vigil, chanting the incantation “Om Namah Shivaya” and engaging in spiritual mediation. Every Spring, Vandy Karma members and various guests carry on this tradition, in a modern way, by having a Sleepover involving everything from discussions to movies to pujas to yoga at dawn. In this way, Karma members stay true to both their Hindu heritage and their identities as college students in the modern world.
