Why do VIEW?
VIEW provides students with 8-week public service internships with leading agencies and congressional offices in our nation's capital. Students work full-time and gain extensive professional experience while networking with Vanderbilt alumni and other internship providers. Many VIEW alums have secured future internships and jobs as a result of their VIEW internship.

Maymester in Washington, D.C.
History 292: Leadership and Citizenship in Recent American History (3 credit hours)
- Live and study in Washington, D.C. in May 2009
- Reside in fully furnished apartments with a community of Vanderbilt students in Northern Virginia.
- Engage in seminar-style, discussion-based class held at Vanderbilt’s Office of Federal Relations in the heart of Washington, D.C.
- Dissect some of the most pressing issues of the post 9/11 world in this class, and take advantage of opportunities to explore them further with top diplomats, officials, and journalists.
- Past speakers include U.S. Senators, CNN anchors, former U.S. ambassadors, a former Pakistani ambassador, and former US presidential candidates.
- Access to research facilities at the Library of Congress and George Washington University.
