Service Leaders Roundtable Series

The Service Leaders Roundtable Series is a new initiative created for Vanderbilt service leaders to facilitate an exchange between students and community leaders on issues pertaining not only to service, but all aspects of community development and social innovation.  Conversations will allow students access to local leaders in various fields of interest, encourage meaningful dialogue, and foster relationships in an effort to more effectively and comprehensively engage in the Nashville community and communities around the world.

The Nonprofit Landscape in Middle Tennessee

The first roundtable will focus on The Nonprofit Landscape in Middle Tennessee, featuring the leadership of Hands On Nashville, the Center for Nonprofit Management, and The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

The event will be held in the OACS Lounge, Rand 305:

6pm: Eat and Greet for Service Leaders

7pm: Roundtable Commences

What does the network of nonprofit and community support services look like in Nashville?  What are its unique qualities and its chief challenges?  How does it compare to other cities?  How has it grown and changed over the years, and where is it likely to go?  What are the factors that are most likely to impact how the landscape will shift in the next 5, 10, 20 years?  How do we (as student service leaders) support it and get involved in it?  How should one go about deciding where and how to focus his or her energy?

Discussion Leaders:

  • Kim Carpenter Drake: Vice President, Center for Nonprofit Management
  • Brian Williams: President & CEO, Hands On Nashville
  • Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (Speaker TBD)
