VIEW - Vanderbilt Internship Experience in Washington, DC
Internested in government, media, policy, & public service internship opportunities? This 8-week experience includes special guest speakers, tours of DC, service in the community, and a unique living-learning environment. Deadline to apply Friday, October 31st - 5pm.
Maymester in Washington, D.C. Professor Dalhouse teaches History 294: A New World—Thinking About Citizenship, Politics and Leadership After 9/11 (3 credit hours)
PREP: Preparation for Leadership & Service in a Diversity Society. The PREP program is designed for emerging leaders at Vanderbilt University. What sets this program apart from others on campus is the combination of leadership and diversity training with an experiential learning internship.
The Zanzibar Project. In an effort to provide new cross-cultural service learning projects for students, the Zanzibar project provides an opporunity for Vanderbilt students to learn Swahili, teach English, and learn about a unique culture in Zanzibar, East Africa. Students will spend 4 weeks in July in Zanzibar, Tanzania, living, teaching, and learning just outside the capital of Stone Town.
The Kampala Project seeks to establish a model service-learning program promoting Global Citizenship through a three-part approach:
- direct service internships for students
- academic engagement of a relevant theme
- cultural immersion
The Vanderbilt student participants will take a preparatory class, spend 4 weeks in Kampala, Uganda, and return to Vanderbilt to further enhance the university culture.
Service Project in Kenya. The Lwala Community Heath Clinic Project has joined forces with the Office of Active Citizenship and Service to facilitate global community service in Lwala Village, Rongo District, Kenya.
Election Alliance 2008 is a consortium of student organizations that are working to empower and engage Vanderbilt students and Nashville citizens to be active in the upcoming 2008 presidential election and beyond.
