PREP:

preparing for leadership and service in a diverse society

PREP is not an acronym but represents “Preparation for Leadership and Service in a Diverse Society.”  The PREP Program is a dynamic collaboration between the Office of Leadership Development and Intercultural Affairs and the Office of Active Citizenship and Service.

The PREP Program application for 2012-2013 is due Friday, March 30th by 5 PM at the Community Partnership House.

prep program goals

   We love PREP too!
  • Develop fundamental leadership skills that enhance students’ effectiveness to lead others on campus and in the community
  • Develop an understanding of social justice, diversity, and cultural issues and how those issues relate to leadership and civic engagement
  • Develop professional skills and a commitment to civic participation throughout life

 

prep program structure

Fall 2011 

  • 8-10 Training Seminars
  • 1-2 Professional Development Workshops
  • 1 Service-Internship Placement Fair

Spring 2012 

  • Complete minimum of 60 hours at your service-internship site (average of 4-6 hours per week)
  • Meet with mentor minimum of 4 times
  • Submit 10 weekly online journal reflections responding to prompts/questions from PREP staff
  • Attend 3 monthly dinner discussions and discuss your experiences, accomplishments, and challenges with your peers
